The rivers are an important watershed for Lake Huron. It is also used extensively for recreation purposes. Allowing Walker to take water 24 hours a day 365 days a year can only impact the water flow and quality of our rivers. We bought our house because it is on the river and do not wish to see a decrease in the water or the quality of wildlife that exists because of the rivers. This agency is supposed to put the environment first and for most do not allow this application. The pits have been here for years without removing the volume of water that is being proposed do not allow this change. The rivers need to be protected please do your job. There are at risk species -snapping Turtles on the river as well as endangered species - the Hungerford Crawling Water Beetle as identified on your own website! How will this proposal affect them and their habitat? The Saugeen River has critical habitat for the Redside Dace (again from your own website) which would be at risk with reduced flow rates that would be the result of continuous and vast water removal . How would removal of water affect the temperature and flow rate of the rivers it is inconceivable that this proposal would not affect both the flow rate (Redside Dace) and water quality. The Saugeen River must be protected.
