I strongly disagree with allowing Walker Aggregate to take water as outlined in this application. The pit location is in close proximity to the Saugeen River which is a valuable natural resource for the people living along and with it. The Saugeen River is an unpolluted, clear, water source that runs through many towns, munipalities, and counties and flows into Lake Huron. The River, and the land along and around it, provide homes for people and a delicate ecosystem of animals, insects, birds, plant-life and aquatic creatures. The River is a natural resource that provides both economic and recreational benefits for the people, towns and municipalities along it.
It is unthinkable to me that an entity such as the Saugeen River can be put at risk by a company as they extract it's very resource - water. By extracting such an egregious amount of water in such a close proximity of the Saugeen River, there is no way that the River will not be affected negatively. And thereby negatively affecting all the people, animals, towns and municipalities and Lake Huron down river from this operation. It is even listed in the permit application itself that it is a Category 3 Environmental risk which has the highest potential for unacceptable environmental impact or interference.
I ask the Ministry of the Environment to do the right thing and NOT approve this application and thereby protect the environment, the people, land and animals of Ontario living along the Saugeen River.
