Please reconsider…

Please reconsider transferring ownership of Beach areas 1 and 2, Allenwood and New Wasaga Beaches to the town of Wasaga Beach. Completing this transfer would be a big mistake.

The province holds these lands in trust for the people of Ontario and has done so for over 55 years. To give up this land to a town that currently is making questionable choices related to buying and selling property is short sighted and will have lasting negative impacts.

The province expropriated much of this land in the 1960s in order to create a provincial park that would serve the people of Ontario for generations to come. This vision needs to be remembered and carried on for all of today, and into the future.

We cannot trust the town Council and staff to adhere to the municipal act, and I feel there are valid concerns and risks with the town making short sighted, selfish, or self serving decisions about this land - in short, they cannot be trusted to make the right decision for the majority of residents of the town, or Ontarians.

I’m sure there’s a way to do a renewable lease or similar if the province decides to transfer the management of these lands. Please look at that option instead of just giving this portion of the provincial park away to the wrong government agency.
