As a resident of Wasaga Beach for more than a decade, and not planning on moving any time soon, this is my forever home, I do not support the town taking over any of the provincial park land along the waterfront of Georgian Bay. As a resident I feel the town has enough to focus their funds on at this time. We have grown as a town exponentially in the last decade or more and the infrastructure needs to be a financial focus if we want to move forward and continue growing. They have already made a huge commitment at our main end, but the main end isn’t the be all and end all of this town. We need to continue with road widening and sidewalk installations, community supports and places for our children to enjoy safely. I do not feel that it is possible for the town to continue providing the necessary improvements for the local population while also committing to caring for such an expanse of park land in the proposal, all on the local tax payers dime, when a lot of the time it is out of towners benefitting from the investment on our backs. Where as if the province continues to fund and care for these precious lands, yes it is still our tax dollars, but it doesn’t fall on us locals alone. I 100% do not support this idea, our council has given us no reason to trust that this is in the locals best interest whatsoever. I trust the province will take all our comments into consideration before making such a land altering decision and thank you for giving us all the opportunity to comment on such.
