Hello,
Please protect the species at risk. This proposal will remove 106 species from the Endangered species list, and they need protection! Now more than ever we need to protect biodiversity across Ontario. I realize that this will potentially slow down development in our province, but shortterm gain will lead to longterm pain in terms of issues that will be created through removing habitats. Indigenous elders teach us that everything is interconnected, and we will pay the price down the road (think how costly it is to clean up areas that have been damaged by industry or that experience damages caused by extreme weather). So it may seem like an insignificant thing now, the protection of these species, but it is emblematic of what needs to happen, the direction we need to go in, to protect our wildlife. Let's take a page from the book of Scandinavian countries which have strong protection in place, and which reap the benefits in terms of creating places which are more livable. It's a win-win situation in terms of benefiting the people who live there, as well as attracting tourism, and protecting the environment in the process. Please be on the right side of history in this matter.
Thank you for taking my comment.
