I am writing to you regarding Bill 66.
The proposed “Open for business planning by-laws” pose serious risks to our heritage buildings and other cultural heritage resources.
• Exempting land use proposals from cultural heritage policies in the PPS and Official Plans effectively eliminates requirements for heritage impact assessments, archaeological assessments and other measures designed to ensure that heritage is considered in planning decisions.
• By-laws should not proceed without adhering to provincial policies and provincial plans, local Official Plans.
• Furthermore, all development proposals should require public notice and consultation.
