Hi,
My name is Lucas Cole and I am an Engineering Technician working for the County of Northumberland. After reviewing the PDF map outlining cycling routes and proposed linkages within our County, I have a couple comments.
There is a proposed cycling linkage along County Rd 45 beginning from the north end of the Green Belt Route and ending in the village of Hastings near the "Trans Canada Trail (recently renamed as the Great Trail)". Our concern about this proposed linkage is that County Road 45 is a very busy arterial road (This road was an old Provincial Highway) and cycling infrastructure at this time is not fully implemented along this stretch of roadway. Without the proper infrastructure, cyclists will not be able to ride this stretch of road safely during the busier hours of the day. We would prefer if the proposed route was changed to run along an approved cycling linkage which is outlined in our Cycling Master Plan (CMP). I can provide this in PDF form upon request.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. My contact info is below.
Thanks,
Lucas
