I am concerned about the potential impacts this proposal could have on local waterways, wetlands, and surrounding ecosystems. Increased industrial activity and land disturbance can contribute to runoff, sedimentation, and contamination entering nearby water systems, negatively affecting water quality, fish habitats, wildlife, and drinking water sources.
Our waterways are already under pressure from pollution, climate change, and habitat loss. Any project that risks increasing these impacts should undergo a thorough environmental review with strong protections, transparent monitoring, and meaningful public consultation.
If the proposed filtration or mitigation systems fail, there is also a serious risk that untreated contaminants, chemicals, or excess sediment could be released directly into nearby waterways and wetlands. Equipment malfunctions, inadequate maintenance, or system overloads during heavy rainfall events could quickly undermine environmental safeguards and lead to long-lasting ecological damage.
Protecting clean water must remain a priority for the health of our communities, agriculture, wildlife, and future generations. Once waterways are damaged, restoration is costly and often incomplete. I urge decision-makers to carefully consider the long-term environmental consequences before approving this proposal.
