I fully support the inclusion of more separated bike lanes on the streets of Ottawa that will help riders safely commute through the city. Please make them *separated* lanes from traffic to ensure safety. Also note that painting "sharrows" along streets is NOT helpful and studies show they actually result in MORE accidents. While I appreciate Ottawa's network of paths for riding, these do little to help us through the regular streets. Consider a bike lane along Somerset, a major road with a lot of traffic. Also, perhaps consider altering the O'Connor bike lane as 1 way WITH traffic (also moving WITH traffic on the right where one actually *excepts* riders!) and then another lane that goes with traffic along Metlcalfe for the northbound traffic. Oh, and when implementing lanes please ensure they don't just suddenly END and merge with traffic! This is asinine and dangerous. Lastly, Island Park bike lane, consider putting in road dividers, or the posts at least to keep drivers from constantly driving in the bike lane, or staying too close to the lane when there is a lot of traffic. That bike lane is incredibly narrow and in need of some help.
Thanks
