I am deeply concerned about significant changes to the SAR program. Over the past decade huge efforts have been made to restore the Piping Plover population at Wasaga Beach. This has been the result of hard work by the Friends of Nancy Island and Wasaga Beach Park, Wasaga Beach park staff and many dedicated volunteers. Great progress has been made.
The Friends do not have the financial resources to fund Piping Plover programs and care if the SAR funding is dropped. If this very modest funding is lost, it would be extremely detrimental to the Park, tourism and habitat studies for the public, especially students.
In an era when species are disappearing, it is very important to save what we have!
