with respect to season of lake trout fmz 11
If I read the proposal correctly the put grow and take lake trout lakes will have same minimal season as naturally occurring populations?? If this is correct I disagree whole heartedly.
All put grow and take lakes should be encouraged to be fished year round because 1) Socioeconomic benefits to all of us when people get out angling 2) If you encourage anglers to fish put grow and take lakes then they will do less fishing on lakes that contain naturally occurring populations of lake trout.
I understand you think if the season line up then you are doing that BUT anglers only have so many days a year to get out fishing. If this season is shorted(for lake trout) then angling pressure gets diverted to to other zones and other species. For example if an angler can't ice fish in December and January for lake trout(at a put and grow lake) he may choose to fish walleye during this period. This once again diverts pressure to naturally occurring populations(ie walleye) which are under pressure in FMZ 11.
