Conservation authorities are even more urgently needed now and in the coming years. These proposals will ensure they can continue to meet their mandate, and work with local municipalities to protect our valuable waters: groundwater, rivers, lakes, and streams; as well as farmland and forests with proper environmental practices. We need to be proactive and have a mechanism to inform, encourage and notify communities of best practices and indeed, what individuals and families can do to conserve these precious resources. I would be particularly interested in what level of funding is needed to maintain the current level of service, and what additional funding is required to meet the anticipated needs with climate change activity.
