Air quality testing to the surrounding areas before the development is an absolute must. The levels of silica particulate being released into the air during/following blasting needs to be monitored as it negatively effects all residents living within a 1000m radius of a blasting quarry. Oakville has a policy implemented in measuring the quality of air to prevent toxic levels of pollutants from being released into the air. Perhaps we can look to this city as an example of how to properly looks out for its residents.
Also depth of water tables and surrounding wells needs to be monitored prior to and following the aggregate development as below water table drilling causes a significant drop in water levels. As a result all private land owners with a well will have to drill far deeper than the existing water sources.
