Ontario needs the Ontario Pesticide Advisory Committee (OPAC) to protect our groundwater, our children, and our health against the Agricultural and Pesticide lobbies that are intent on putting green lawns, perfect golf courses and unnatural crop yields above the health of our children and the environment. Neonicotinoid seeds and pesticides are driving pollinators to extinction while keeping real farmers beholden to mega-corporations.
What is Doug Ford's interest in promoting dangerous pesticides in Ontario? It is clearly not for the health and well-being of Ontarians. What does he gain? Agricultural/Rural votes? Benefits from large pesticide corporations? A sweet deal from the Federal agency?
Without the protection of OPAC, small farmers, average Ontarians, children, and the environment lose a vital layer of protection. Taking away OPAC will add to the burden of medical costs. I OPPOSE amendments to the Pesticide Act.
