Locating a major heavy industrial plant directly on Toronto’s Waterfront Hiking Trail stretching along the shores of Lake Ontario would be disastrous for the image of a world class city offering outdoor pursuits. 24 continuous hours 7 days a week of plant operations with its noise and odour emissions in a highly beautiful residential single home neighbourhood will be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of everyone. Heavy trucks running 24 hours continuously to and from this location on suburban roads that are not design for this type of traffic and the location nearby of numerous schools will seriously impact the safety of children, older adults and all people living not only near the proposed plant but the entire West Rouge community.
Surely a more suitable location for such an industrial plant away from the shores of Lake Ontario must be available in the huge Greater Toronto Area that eliminates the social and environmental impact to its residents everywhere.
