I would like to comment on the proposal to construct the sewage treatment facility on the property of Island Park RV Park. In my reading of the plan, It suggests the ballpark area as the suggested location. I cannot think of a worse possible location. As a nearby (downriver) homeowner for the past 20 years, I am well aware of the spring tendencies of the Trent River and the flooding that occurs. I have observed that region of the Park as a low lying flood prone location in close proximity to the river. In addition, the location is bounded by a boat channel on the west side that exacerbates the flood possibilities by allowing flood waters deeper access into the park lands. In years of extreme flooding, that area has been a foot deep in water. My concern is for the health and safety of my family. As a waterfront landowner, I take enjoyment from the activities that the river affords such as swimming, skiing etc. I draw water from the river for home use, although we do trust to not drink the river water anymore, even with an extensive water filtration in place. (We have the water tested annually) I am not an expert but I do believe that outflow from the proposed sewage treatment site would only contaminate the Trent River to an unacceptable level..I am not sure why the current location of the park’s sewage site is not more appropriate. As I have suggested, I am against any construction of a sewage treatment facility in the area suggested.
