There are plenty of housing opportunities within the greenbelt, so this legislation should not give opportunities to municipalities go beyond the boundaries of the greenbelt. As well, compact, transit oriented walkable and bikeable communities should be encouraged in order to improve quality of life while protecting farm and forest on the outskirts of the city. Urban sprawl impacts the amount of farmland that is available in Ontario, as well are very costly in terms of infrastructure needed, (roads, sewers, emergency services, flood protection, etc.)

As well, this change in the text of the APTG to remove the prohibition on new mineral aggregate operations, wayside pits and quarries from habitats of endangered species and threatened species within the Natural Heritage System for the Growth Plan gives the opportunity for the aggregate industry to skirt environmental laws and further threaten species at risk. Please remove this clause.
