1) Standardize the Blue Bin program all across the province. 2) Make it compulsory for all to participate in the program, including the commercial and industrial sectors who are the major offenders. They always look for a cheaper way to get rid of their unwanted waste. Unfortunately it is cheaper for them to dispose than recycling. 3) if situation does not improve, perhaps there should be inspectors, snitch lines. 4) educate the public more on what to recycle. 5) videos of how the Receyling plants work maybe helpful e.g. how they separate the metal from non-metal items. 6) ban all BLACK ( and dark brown ? ) plastic lids or containers, if the computers at the recyling plants cannot read the Recycling Code inside that ‘Triangle’. Use WHITE instead.
