We have more land available to build on than we can possibly develop in the next century. Some municipalities are fully developed or land is not in the right place. The developers have owned a lot of this land for decades and now want to cash in but regulation and laws have been modernized.
How would Ford react if Ottawa allowed the Federal Minister of the Environment to overrule local bylaws...not well I expect.
