This proposed change is incredibly dangerous and unconstitutional. Not only is the government proposing changes that would be unconstitutional, they are also actively infringing on Indigenous rights. Respecting Indigenous concerns ahead of development is the bare minimum the government can do as an act of reconciliation, and to bow to developers ahead of indigenous groups in this way is incredibly harmful. Additionally, the provincial government needs to respect the remaining natural environment. By opening lands up for development that are environmentally sensitive is recklessly playing with all of our future. Regulations are in place for a reason, and nothing is going to make the government seem corrupt more than having the government ignore these regulations at the whims of developers.
