Neither the province nor the township should approve the proposal from Miller Paving. As a local resident, we live with noise, dust, increased traffic and undoubtedly additional pollution from the existing operations. The thought of adding 100s of more trucks per day and bringing in additional waste, the safety of which can't be assured, exacerbates an already bad situation. We increase the risk of polluting our drinking water and greater devaluing our properties.

Miller has not lived up to the commitments of the current agreement and consequently there is no reason to believe that they would do so in the future. Quite to the contrary, the smell test would suggest that both Miller and the town are more concerned with additional revenue rather than protecting neighborhoods and the environment.

Transferring the responsibility from the MNRP to the township would be in my opinion a very poor decision. There is nothing to indicate that the township has either the capacity nor the will to provide sufficient oversite. Conversely local politicians regularly focus on the short-term revenue generation opportunities, rather than long-term goals, such as protecting property values and the environment. In summary, approving this request by Miller would be disastrous for those of us in the immediate vicinity. Do the right thing, not the most profitable thing, and reject this proposal.
