I share the concerns expressed by Umala that Millar Paving not be allowed to convert the land in question to an industrial site. It would appear that Millar Paving, having already ignored directives to rehabilitate the land, is playing games with various responsible agencies and townships to serve it's own ends. This is being done with no regard to environmental concerns or the terms of the original agreement .
How can anyone be confident that Millar Paving will operate under terms of a new agreement? Are they going to rehabilitate the land as required? Would they control truck travel in the area? Would they guarantee the protection of the aquifer? Would they protect the farms and residents currently in the area? Would they maintain the road quality? What is their plan for the land bordering Concession 8?
If Millar Paving desires a permanent industrial site, why not utilize the industrial lands at Durham Rd 30
And Bloomington Rd?
Given the numerous issues involved and Millar Paving s reaction and attempts to subvert all agencies involved, their application should be turned down.
