I am in favour of the proposal to regulate the 13 species listed here under the Invasive Species Act. In addition, I urge the OMNRF to begin conducting risk assessments for Yellow Archangel (Lamium galeobolodon), Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), White Mulberry (Morus alba), Flowering Rush (Butomus umbellatus), Winged Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus), Oriental Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus), Norway Maple (Acer platanoides). Yellow Archangel and Norway Maple are being sold in the horticultural trade and they pose threats to Ontario's environment and natural areas. they are banned elsewhere and should be here. The so-called sterile cultivars of Norway Maple are proving not to be as sterile as once-believed, reverting to type over time.
