I am against moving forward with Bill 4, Cancellation of Cap & Trade Act for the following reasons:

- Funding pots created by this legislation have directly resulted in job creation and economic growth, providing a funding source to complete public projects such as school and hospital upgrades which cannot otherwise not be afforded

- Ontario should maintain some autonomy with carbon pricing by implementing or maintaining a Carbon Pricing model that works for Ontarians and not be force to abide by the federally imposed model (which Ontario will be obligated by law to do if Ontario does not put its own carbon pricing system in place)

- This cancellation is short sighted, spiteful and negligent with taxpayer’s dollars and the future economic growth of Ontario. We need to promote ingenuity with business and development, not take steps backwards. Debate in parliament and stakeholder consultation MUST be had in order to move forward with a plan and in a manner that is truly fiscally conservative. Considerations for revising the program should be had prior to outright cancellation

- The Promised $280 savings per household resulting from the cancellation of Cap and Trade is hearsay and does not account for single-person households, apartment or rental residences

- Cancelling Cap & Trade puts taxpayers at environmental and economic risk and will increase our provincial debt via litigation with the federal government, Cap & trade partners (Quebec & California) and businesses
