I believe opting out of the existing Cap and Trade Agreement is a costly mistake for Ontario. I think a national approach with all of the Provinces signing on is the way to go. The mechanism is already in place. It makes no sense for Ontario to spend the time developing a new plan. Nor does it make sense incurring legal costs and costs associated with the cancellation of contracts already entered into. Stopping the existing funding for homeowners to make their homes more energy efficient as well as other green energy initiatives is shortsighted. I am very much against opting out of the existing agreement. We should be getting on board and supporting a Canadian initiative.
