I would just like to say I am against ending the Cap & Trade program here in Ontario. At a time when the storms are getting worse around the world and the fact that we rarely have winters here in Ontario is alarming. In fact we need to stay the coarse if not do more than we are already.

Killing the EV incentive was low, despite what the Conservative Government said about it being for the rich is not true. I am not rich by any means but when I needed to get a new car and wanted to reduce my carbon footprint the incentive helped. I was able to get the Nissan Leaf. The only reason people say its for the rich is because of Tesla. That is not Tesla's fault, they are the only automotive manufacturer that is producing in mass. More people would buy GM, Nissan, VW if they put the effort into mass producing instead GM who has a great car is only willing to make 30,000 units a year. Our government shouldn't be siding with the automotive companies to keep a flawed engine going. We need to take more steps like in Norway where they are already 52% of all new cars sales being fully electric.

Doug Ford said eliminating the Cap & Trade and EV incentive would reduce gas prices at the pump by 10 cents. I've yet to see it happen at the pumps. If anything I've seen them miraculously jump by 14 cents in the morning and go down only slightly at night. Wouldn't it have been better to get more Ontarian's to purchase fully electric cars and setup more infrastructure for charging. I was commuting in my electric car and for 1 month total it cost $10.00 vs the $150.00 for my internal combustion engine. That is a way better savings then 10 cents per liter at the pump. Ontarian's need to be better educated about the cost of ownership. That fact is I don't even need oil changes a further bonus of reducing my carbon footprint. Its not only about electric cars but getting rid of the incentive for solar and storage. We should be investing like Australia's large storage battery system and also the virtual power plants by supplying low income homes with solar and storage. When the homes battery is charge the city can use some of the extra power generation into the grid for better stability.

All these processes are important to continue and get people on board so we can reach the goals that we all committed to doing in the Cap & Trade. Hopefully come the next election we can get Doug Ford out and put someone who really cares about Ontario not just enacting revenge on Toronto.
