Dear Sirs: I am completely against the proposal to increase the number and quantity of wind turbines anywhere within Ontario, particularly within the Ottawa area.
The 'renewable energy' is neither reliable nor renewable, and is (over its lifetime) worse emitters / sources of emissions than common energy sources. The LCOE is too high. The anticipated lifetime of some 25 years or so has been demonstrated to be closer to 15 years. The land where they have been
installed is virtually useless thereafter for other purposes, upon their demolition. There is a huge (and growing) disposal problem upon their dismantling. Imposing wind turbines upon a regular electrical grid is irresponsible and expensive: their energy is not dependable, they cause frequency and voltage excursions due their intermittent and unpredictable operation, and other sources of energy must be maintained to cover for them. The materials needed to construct them and their grid access are in addition to existing grid materials and constitute an unnecessary diminution of already scarce natural resources. There is not a good word for them. They constitute a recognized health risk to proximate humans and animals, when operating. The subsidies paid to the developers are in excess of the costs of regular energy sources, and constitute a de facto theft of taxpayers money- wasted with no good purpose.
