Over 90% of 18,000 Hamiltonians who voted in the city's survey voted for NO expansion. We know what we want in our city and we know that building McManions on farm fields will not provide affordable housing next to transit and jobs. We built Binbrook last time we expanded the boundary and along with that folly came a promise of transit. To this day, years later there is zero transit in or to Binbrook leaving it as a car dependent island of suburbia which only recently got it's first grocery store. Binbrook was a terrible decision. We are already enacting zoning changes in Hamilton to allow for 2,3,4 plexes within neighbourhoods which will add the kind of gentle density we need to welcome 236,000 new Hamiltonians to our city in the next 30 years. Plus if you want to make our LRT a success we need LOTS of residents living close to it, in areas that are currently derelict and abandoned. Do not expand our boundary. Let us build a world class city.
