With respect to Section 4.4…

With respect to Section 4.4 Intensification and Appendix 2: Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs), the Vellore Local Centre in the City of Vaughan should be considered a MTSA in light of the existing and emerging transit services. The Vellore Local Centre located at the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive and Weston Road is currently serviced by Regional and Local bus service that connects to higher order transit. Major Mackenzie Drive east of Weston Road is identified as a Regional Rapid Transit Corridor with a planned extension of the Viva Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to the Vellore Local Centre. The Vellore Local Centre can also be seamlessly connected to other MTSAs planned along Major Mackenzie West and, the Jane Street Corridor.

The planned BRT stop, active transportation improvements, existing amenities including the new Vaughan Hospital and connections to employment areas makes the Vellore Local Centre a logical location as a transition station and merits consideration as a MTSA with a minimum density of 160 people and jobs per hectare.
