I am concerned about the government's proposal to repeal the cap and trade system. It would be short-sighted and harmful to change a system that is already in place and coordinated with other jurisdictions.
I believe that the proponents of this legislation have not adequately considered the long-term effects of this proposal.
The government uses careful legislation to steer our society, much like how a captain steers a ship with small, patient adjustments over time. A hasty change of course is jarring to everyone aboard and can lead to disaster. The proponents of this bill seem to be suddenly changing course with weak justification and no viable replacement strategy.
I do not support Bill 4 and urge our legislators to reconsider these topics at a later date and with an effective, long term strategy if it is indeed necessary to replace the cap and trade system.
