We live outside Rondeau Park…

We live outside Rondeau Park and are part of the broader Rondeau community. In this context, the context of using the park, it’s amenities and the amenities outside the park, we feel the cottages are an integral part in the overall quality of the community. The cottagers are net contributors and add to the economic and environmental stewardship of the park. We support the extension of leases as proposed. However we also feel the lack of a long term solution (such as the 50 year leases granted in Algonquin Park) undermines cottagers ability to effectively upgrade and maintain their properties. A long term solution would incentivize improvements that would be beneficial to the park community at large. Some of those benefits include upgraded septic systems, building and property upgrades, more eyes and ears to assist in maintaining park, observing wildlife, supporting park store, more visitors (cottagers as a vector of attraction), etc..
