I am against changes to conservation authorities’ scope of practice, and to opening the green belt for development. We have seen in other countries and in Canada itself what poor environmental planning can cost a country. We need to conserve our green spaces to ensure food security, mitigate flood risks, clean our drinking water, and ensure our province is best protected against environmental disasters in the future. The green belt and conservation authorities are key to ensuring these goals. The changes proposed are short-sighted and will cost our province.
