As a leading expert in the area of Ontario reptiles and amphibians, I believe there needs to be changes to the recovery goals of page 6 concerning the management of the Carolinian population of Massasauga Rattlesnakes. Firstly it states "if appropriate". Management of this population is essential for the survival of these populations. Second, implementation of population management actions such as augmentation using captive-bred animals should also be included as this is the only feasible way to increase these populations back to sustainable numbers that can survive in a healthy manor.
