The proposed changes would provide the ability to exempt development authorized under the Planning Act from requiring a permit under the Conservation Authorities Act. Municipalities rely on conservation authorities to provide advice and expertise. Municipalities need to have the flexibility to enter into agreements with CAs to review Planning Act applications to ensure the natural environment is protected. CAs should continue to have the authority to issue permits so that important natural heritage features and functions can be protected.
