This is not the way to address the housing crisis and will only create more problems down the line with regards to climate change and its associated effects (warming and rising AC costs, more extreme weather that can cause casualties and property damage which costs home owners more, etc). Protecting our Greenbelt and natural spaces should be a number one priority to slow the effects of climate change and to leave future generations in a better standing. Trees and other natural spaces keep our air cleaner, our planet cooler, increases our biodiversity, provides places to hike, bike and play, and spending time in nature has been proven to reduce stress and induce happiness in people, something that is sorely needed as the cost of living continues to rise.
This move by the Ford government does not tell me he and his team care about the housing crisis, but rather that he does not care about the environment, believe in climate change (or science), and only wants to line the pockets of his friends and family (developers and others who stand to make a lot of money through this proposal).
