This proposed change is offensively, transparently corrupt. As this story (linked below) shows, these lands are largely already owned by housing developers. I looked up some of these properties myself, and found that some of them were purchased in the past few months for tens of millions of dollars. Why would a housing developer buy protected land they can't use for tens of millions of dollars just a month before Bill 23 was introduced? Clearly they knew what was coming. I'm disgusted. I feel betrayed by my own government.

Not only is the loss of ANY agricultural land of deep concern and incredibly short-sighted, this change will NOT produce affordable housing. Affordability is largely a factor of density, and the neighbourhoods that will be built here will not be apartment high-rises, they'll be sprawl. Sprawl is NOT affordable. The fact that the need for affordable housing is being used to justify this land theft is reprehensible. (I say theft because that land belongs to the people who will need it to eat in the future, not people who want to build mcmansions today. That's the point of preserving it.)

Please reconsider this change. It is not in the interests of any Ontarians, present or future, except for the developers who will profit off of sprawl.
