The solution to the housing plan is not to allow strategic removal of lands from the Greenbelt Area. What is especially important is that when any such development is considered, that consultation occur not only with the city/town in which the land exists, but also the conservation authorities as well. To ignore this is not only shortsighted, but it is also ill informed as we would then not know what affect this would have on the land owners in the existing communities. As an example, if a marsh is removed and no consultation occurs then we would not know if it may lead to flooding in the surrounding areas. The issue for the housing crisis is not that people don't have somewhere to live, but that the average Ontarian cannot afford the average housing prices. The removal of these lands does nothing to decrease these prices and the only immediate benefit would be to the developers themselves and not to the average working Ontarian. We need to look to work within our communities to examine pre-existing solutions, not to overrule these communities and decrease their power to help their constituencies. Thank you.
