I believe that the Massasauga is an important part of Ontario's biodiversity and should be protected in any way possible. With increasing urban sprawl, changes to our climate and overall increase in anthropogenic harm to our ecosystem the need to protect wildlife is extremely important. In being able to protect land for species such as the Massasauga this then creates an umbrella of safety for other organisms that inhabit the same area and further protect Ontario's biodiversity. I fully support the measures outlined in the draft Government Response Statement. If anything I would like to see further measures be put into population monitoring and the possibility of reintroducing the species to areas historically occupied.
