This act will result in a huge waste of tax payer dollars. The money spent so far on Cap and Trade will be wasted. Businesses that participated in good faith will loose money or tax payers will need to compensate them for their loss. In addition, the cost of not curbing emissions, such as damage to public and private property from extreme weather events (fire, flood, drought, tornados, ice storms) will increase if Ontario does not do its part to reduce carbon emissions. The Cap and Trade plan is an effective approach to address the climate crisis. The government has not put forward a replacement plan.

I strongly oppose this bill. I believe carbon pricing is the most efficient and effective way to reduce carbon emissions. Most Ontarian's did not vote for a cancellation of the Cap and Trade plan, and support a price on carbon. I believe this act is reckless and will harm Ontario's long term, economic prosperity.
