I severely disagree with the proposed changes to this bill. The loss of farmland, wetlands and undeveloped greenbelt will be a huge loss for our provence. Housing is important but not at these costs. We can focus on housing without unrestrained urban sprawl taking from our amazing green spaces and important ecological and farmland systems. Once these are lost it is nearly impossible to get them back and i strongly urge the government to consider alternate routes that do not have as much negitive impact to our greenbelt and green spaces.
As climate change continues to hurl challeneges at us that include more severe weather and flooding, wetlands in particular are our best defence. They literally can save our provence extra expenses on flood control only if they are protexted and managed and recognised for the value they provide to our provence.
I urge the provincial government to not think short term in getting houses built but also long term, and not think of environmental protection as a hinderance but as a investment into the health of our communities.
