This proposed plan is extremely upsetting as a resident of this province. Direct comments from our elected officials and political leaders stating that there will be no entertainment of “any proposals that will move lands in the Greenbelt, or open the Greenbelt lands to any kind of development” and being completely forgotten about.
This proposed plan is not the solution to the housing crisis, and fails to address the affordability of already existing housing across the province. Financial gain for major developers cannot lead the path of our province. More houses will not decreased price of homes and the small percentage of Ontarians who can afford to buy a house will not increase.
Land development is removing our ability to produce food, keep water clean, and maintain (let alone improve) Ontario ecosystems. The Greenbelt should be increased in size, and the “more houses built faster” act must be reconsidered to improve housing affordability and access.
