This proposal does not reflect the needs of communities in Ontario, and it directly violates the Greenbelt Act. This is not a democratically initiated proposal. Many cities throughout Ontario need funding for housing but there are solutions beyond infringing on protected Greenbelt land. Build up, not out.
The future of Canadians and humanity is wholly dependant on the future of climate change action. This proposal is in direct conflict with these needs. Building single-family homes across large distances is not environmentally responsible, nor is it an effective solution to the housing crisis.
This proposal will be met with resistance at every opportunity.
