While I support expanding the Greenbelt, I do not support development on protected land.

Highway 413 (another proposal I strongly oppose) is already threatening established habitats of endangered species by attempting to develop on natural land that is meant to be protected. The government needs to honour the protected status of the Greenbelt. As a citizen, it raises deep concern and mistrust to see the Ford government revoke a protected status as it suits them, especially at a time when the environment needs our protection more than ever.

While I understand the need for new housing, different options need to be explored. Developing abandoned buildings, smaller dwellings and building in commercial areas all seem more acceptable than developing land that Ontario citizens were assured, and trusted, are protected.
