Southern Ontario is already vastly overdeveloped and devoid of forestry. The Greenbelt is an integral remaining lonely bastion of green space in the province. It offsets carbon emissions and is a refuge for wildlife. To destroy it would be the antithesis of our former motto, “keep it beautiful.”
As a floodplain, it is an inopportune space for development inviting future disasters and environmental problems.
Our government should be ridding the province of foreign-owned ghost hotels to solve the growing housing crisis instead of furthering the destruction of our planet to appease construction companies and well-connected developers.
Please do not commit this atrocity and consider saving the Greenbelt; if not for us, then for future generations.
