Bill 23, if and when passed, will be very destructive to the province of Ontario. My family came to Ontario 300 years ago. I was born here and spent my life here. I've always been proud of my beautiful province but now I am deeply saddened that it will be forever changed for the worse. Creating sprawl and paving areas of the Greenbelt is not the way to deal with the housing crisis. Ontarians are not stupid and we can see what the ulterior motives of this government are. First of all, don't use immigration as an excuse to pillage farmland and pave it over. That is an insult to immigrants. They want to live in a community where there are services, groceries etc. close to where they work. They don't want long commutes. Many won't be buying a car and most will be renting when they arrive.

This law is a pretext for Doug Ford to allow developers to build wherever they want, with few restrictions. They supported him during his campaign and now he owes them. Everyone knows that. Give the people of the province what they want: top quality public health care and education, a province that respects green space, farms and the environment, and homes in walkable communities where they are close to work, such as within existing urban areas.
