Any significant disruption to forested areas inevitably results in the displacement of wildlife such as turkey, deer, smaller forest creatures and coyotes. I've seen this several times in Durham where forested areas north of Finch are cleared for whetever reason and we have deer and turkey walking down our streets and in our back yards the next day. Coyotes follow. Its cute, but not safe for them or the folks in the community.
Why not leave the forest alone and build a few minutes further away in areas that are already cleared? Sure maybe it costs more to get the supporting infrastructure and transportation networks there but better in the long run. Do it right and business communities can also become part of the strategy.
