It is absolutely appalling and unnecessary to touch the greenbelt. It has a negative benefit to the majority of residents of Ontario and will continue the negative environmental impacts proposed through Doug Ford's policy.
An additional highway won't fix traffic issues when taking into consideration the planned route and the minimal impact of reducing traffic this would have on the GTA.
It's shameful that my tax dollars are going to this when education and healthcare are suffering. This government has shown a clear preference for corporate dollars over public interest.
Let me also bring up comments from Housing Minister Steve Clark in Feb 21 2021 :
"I want to be clear; we will not in anyway entertain any proposals to move lands in the greenbelt or open the greenbelt lands to any kind of development."
This, now evidenced as a lie, should show every Ontario resident how much they can trust this government.
