Developing housing in the Greenbelt is not only unnecessary, as the government's own affordable housing task force stated in it's Feb. 2022 report, but also it will set a dangerous precedent for further development in other ecologically significant lands like the Oak Ridges Moraine where I live. This combined with the proposed changes to the Ontario Wetlands Evaluations System and the Provincial Policy Statement that would weaken protections to provincially significant natural heritage features are valid reasons for NOT proceeding with development in the Greenbelt. Our Provincial government needs to walk back this proposal and properly engage all key stakeholders.
