The Greenbelt is the world's largest permanently protected green space. Its wetlands are essential to hundreds of species in Southern Ontario. In the current global warming crisis, The Ontario government needs to be protecting more green space, not removing it to make way for development.

The Greenbelt was created in 2005 to prevent further loss of farmland and natural heritage, and to restrict urban sprawl. Amending the law to allow urban sprawl contradicts the very purpose of the Greenbelt.

Premier Ford in 2018 stated: "The people have spoken. I'm going to listen to them, they don't want me to touch the Greenbelt, we won't touch the Greenbelt." Is Premier Ford good for his word or did he lie to Ontarians?

There are many other locations that can be used to increase housing inventory. The first and most obvious is to increase density in already developed locations. The Greenbelt—a precious Ontario resource—must be preserved. We only have one.
