Bill 23 will declassify protected — and protective — wetlands for the purported purpose of increasing the supply of housing and improving the affordability of homes in Ontario. Yet, independent studies including by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario indicate that the Bill will result in transfer up to $1,000,000,000 (Billion) in costs to municipal and won’t improve housing affordability. Is this flawed Bill worth destroying protective sensitive land actively benefiting Ontarians and Ontario’s ecosystems under its current protective status?
